Der Umwelt zuliebe sollte man das Angebot von BOB und RVO nutzen und mit dem Bergsteigerbus in die Eng anreisen. Aber auch für diejenigen, die nicht so hoch hinaus wollen, ist sie ein wunderbares Wanderziel, das einen mit herrlichen Ausblicken auf die Zugspitze und ins Höllental belohnt. Wer eine etwas größere Tour machen möchte, der kann zum Beispiel von der Haltestelle Kreuzeckbahn aufs Kreuzeck aufsteigen und von dort über den Osterfelderkopf zur Rinderscharte und hinab zur Höllentalangerhütte absteigen. Hierfür bedarf es aber einer guten Kondition und Trittsicherheit, stellenweise auch Schwindelfreiheit (an einigen Stellen und im Abstieg). Eine gemütlichere Variante ist die über die Knappenhäuser. Eine Übernachtung im Höllental lohnt sich auch. Am nächsten Tag geht es dann gemütlich hinab durch die Höllentalklamm nach Hammersbach. Auch hier gibt es einen Bahnhof. Die Tour ist also bequem mit der Bahn durchzuführen.

Die Meilerhütte serviert köstlichen Kaiserschmarrn.
